The Talc Mine

The following are some photos, from The White Hill, behind the Talc Mine. Also, there are a couple of The Black Hill. I knew The Black Hill but didn’t know that the other hill, to the right of the mines was called The White Hill. The rocks have white talc on the surface so I assume that is the reason for it being called the white hill.   Please feel free to share rocksnl.com.  Note: Click on any photo.. to enlarge.IMG_0501 IMG_0502

I took this picture because about thirty five years ago, we had a large bonfire in this pit. We had a lot of  tires. The smoke billowed around the pit and we were black with soot. Our clothes stank of smoke. We didn’t go back there for another bonfire on Guy Fawkes night. I couldn’t get a photo looking into the pit as it is now grown over with trees.
